Cinta’s herd, numbering around 30–40 elephants, remains one of the most stable and well-monitored groups in the Bukit Tiga Puluh ecosystem.

Cinta's herd in the Bukit Tiga Puluh ecosystem
Their home range spans roughly 182 km² in the northern part of the area, mostly within the ABT Block 1 concession. This region includes the Manggatal and Sekalo Rivers which are important feeding and movement corridors for the herd.
Following the tragic loss of Quin, field teams observed a smaller subgroup merging with Cinta’s herd, strengthening its overall cohesion and ensuring continued monitoring of both groups. While ABT Block 1 is considered one of the safest areas for the elephants, growing agricultural activity along the Manggatal River is creating new challenges. To address this, our Elephant Conservation and Monitoring Unit team has worked closely with local communities in Bungo Pandan to build cooperation through a new conflict mitigation and monitoring group.
Recently, the herd attempted to cross southward toward areas with denser vegetation, a normal seasonal movement. With support from local residents, rangers helped safely redirect the elephants north, keeping them within protected zones.
Thank you for helping protect Cinta and her herd. Because of your support, they can continue to live safely within their forest range while efforts to keep their habitat connected and secure move forward. Your contribution truly helps keep this herd thriving.
This program is a collaboration with our FZS partners, and the Ministry of Forestry.
